Maryland PTA “REFLECTIONS – 2010-2011″

Blake is again participating in the National PTA’s  Reflections Program, which recognizes achievements in the arts, in an effort  to raise community awareness of the arts and arts education.  The  winners of Blake’s contest will go on to the county level, and can compete, up to the national level. Last year (2009-2010), two Blake students won state recognition in Film Production and Musical Composition!

The theme for this year is “Together We Can.” Each entry must be an original work and student entries must adhere to guidelines for each category.  The deadline has been extended! Student submissions are due in the Main  Office no later than  3:00 p.m., on Friday, December 17, 2010.

The six categories of the arts are:

  1. Literature
  2. Musical  Composition
  3. Dance  Choreography
  4. Film  Production
  5. Photography
  6. Visual Arts

As the finest Arts school in Montgomery  County, we hope that our students will take this opportunity to show their talents.  Blake should sweep the competition at the county level!  Prizes and certificates will be awarded to the winners. Additional information regarding deadlines is below:

  • Blake deadline: Tuesday, November 29, 2010, no later than 3:00 p.m.
(All Blake entries will be honored at PTSA Meeting: December 20.)
  • Montgomery County deadline: January 3, 2011
(Blake winners will be submitted to the County for competition.)
  • Maryland State deadline: February 1, 2011
