Blake Stage Company Show – Nov 12, 13, 18, 19 & 20

The Blake Stage Company will be presenting the wonderful, family-theatre piece – THE TALES OF THE ARABIAN NIGHTS – this November 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20 at 7:30 pm in the Auditorium.

THE TALES tell the grand story of the lovely Scheherazade who finds herself married to a cursed Prince — Shahriar. In order to stay alive in her relationship with the Prince, she must tell stories that interest him. She begins the task by relating the start of the Tales of 100 and one nights.

The stories are hilarious morality tales of commoners and princes, alike. Genies, snake charmers, princesses and princes as well as Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves ply their way across the stage in wonderfully funny tales that end with the best of morals.

A show for the entire family, tickets may be purchased from Main Office Secretary Denice Wepasnick beginning on Monday, November 8th. Tickets are $12 for Assigned Reserved Seating (close to the stage and the action) and $10 for general admission.

The show runs less than 90 minutes and is a delight for theatre-goers of any age from ages 6 – 60! Don’t miss the fun of THE TALES OF ARABIAN NIGHTS!

Little Shop of Horrors–Encore performance June 18th

We’re proud to announce that there will be an encore performance of the Blake Stage Company’s spring show – the man-eating plant, musical comedy, Little Shop of Horrors - on Friday, June 18th!

Here are the specifics:

Date: Friday, June 18th
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Tickets: $10 at the door, all seats are general admission
Place: Blake Auditorium

The show runs just under 2 hours with the intermission.

Blake presents Taming of the Shrew – Nov. 13-14,19-21

THE TAMING OF THE SHREW at Blake High School will be presented this weekend at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday and next week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There’s an Italian Dinner & Cabaret Pre-show before the performances on each Saturday night. (November 14th and 21st).

The story: The story, modernized into the 1990′s Italian Chic Era, concerns the problesm of a wealthy merchant who lives in Padua — Italy’s great city of the arts. Baptista Minola has two daughters. His youngest, the lovely Bianca, is in demand! Suitors have come from in and out of Padua to court her. Baptista, however, wants a husband for his eldest, Katherina. The problem, she is a shrew. She chooses not to play the traditional games of love girls are expected to play. No man will have her.

Nevertheless, Bianca’s suitors find a down-on-his luck soldier-of -fortune — Petrucchio of Pisa (the town of leaning Tower fame!), who decides to court Katherine primarily for the money involved in her dowry. Once this happens, all craziness breaks loose in hysterically funny ways, as Petrucchio sets out to tame Kate from her shrewish ways. Will Petrucchio succeed? Aha , that’s the question.

Come see the old world of Italian Italy; a place of art, tradition, and male dominance crash into the worlds of Katehrina and Petrucchio who both see the world in different ways. Then watch how the worlds of Petrucchio and Kate collide. This is a wonderfully modern tale!
