Parents of Freshmen (class of 2014)

Mark your calendars for our third parent meeting of the year on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, from 7-8:30 pm in the Blake Amphitheatre.

Ms. Wagner will be discussing requirements and upcoming summer opportunities for Student Service Learning. Ms. Morales (our 9th grade administrator) will be answering your questions and more. Also, there will be time for discussion with other parents and an opportunity to identify topics for future sessions.

In order to use our time more efficiently, please email Carmen as soon as possible with whatever questions you have about Blake. We will then get answers and present them at the meeting so all can be informed.

The 10^th Grade Parent/Guardian Meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Blake Amphitheater. We will have speakers to discuss topics that are relevant to our 10^th grade students such as the class registration process and AP classes. You will also have a chance to fellowship with other 10^th grade parents/guardians and the 10^th Grade Administrator, Mr. Rudy Tyrell. Parents of Seniors (class of 2011), we are coming into the final stretch. Mark your calendars for our first parent meeting of the year on Monday October 11, 2010 at 7 pm in the Blake Amphitheater. We will be finding out about many of the activities and requirements during Senior year. Mr. DuBoyce ( our 12th grade administrator) will be presenting a wealth of information and there will be time for discussion and questions and answers.

Ms. Beth Thomas, the 10th grade administrator, will discuss topics related to the Class of 2012, Ms. Bernadette White, Resource Counselor will be present to discuss APs and the college application process and Ms. Cindy Gleason will discuss her course, Career and College Development.

11th Grade Parent meeting, Jan. 28th

The next 11th Grade Parent-to-Parent meeting is on Thursday, January 28th, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the amphitheatre.

Mr. DuBoyce will present information about the upcoming Fall registration, the February 26th ACT/SAT opportunity, summer school, the May AP schedule, and more. There’ll be time for questions and answers to keep you in the loop as well as a chance to provide input for topics at our April meeting.

NAACP Parents’ Council December Meeting
Wednesday, December 16th
6:30 – 8:00 p.m. - Blake HS, Cafeteria

In the spirit of the holiday season, please join us for the NAACP Parents’ Council Meeting on December 16th as we share with those who are less fortunate. We will be having a Pot Luck dinner and would ask families to bring a dish to share – main course, sides, and/or desserts.

In addition, we are asking families to bring items to donate to the Greentree Shelter, a transitional home for homeless families, primarily children with single mothers, that provides the basic support systems necessary for families to rebuild their lives.

Parent peer groups

Blake PTSA organizes and supports Parent Peer Groups, which meet a few times a year for each grade level. At the meetings, parents come together with a parent leader and a school administrator to discuss how best to support their students. The meetings also offer parents an opportunity to ask questions and to network with other parents. Meeting topics and times are announced on Eubiemail and this web site.

If you are confused by the maze of High School acronyms and requirements you are not alone! Come to the 9th grade parent/guardian meeting on Tuesday, October 13th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Blake amphitheater. We’ll talk about PSAT, HSA, SSL, PE, ODD DAYS, EVEN DAYS and more.

This will be a great opportunity to meet with other 9th grade parents/guardians and Mr. Chris Berry, the 9th grade administrator, to discuss topics related to your 9th grader.
