Blake’10 After Prom
“Into the Night”

Hello Blake families,

With about 35 days to go until the 2010 After-Prom, we have just passed the 66% point of our Fundraising goal for Parent Donations. To the 81 families that have donated to the After-Prom, THANK YOU!!! To the other 900+ families at Blake, WE NEED YOUR HELP! Regardless of the grade your child is in, we count on your support. Our initial deadline is/was Friday, April 9.

Any contribution, large or small, is appreciated! Your donation will help insure a safe, alcohol and drug free evening for our Juniors, Seniors and their Prom dates! Read more »

Mamma Lucia – Olney Location

Wednesday, January 20th

Enjoy a night out at Mamma Lucia’s in Olney or bring dinner home to your family! Either way, will help raise funds for Blake’s After-Prom.

Eat-in, carry-out, or delivery — 8% of all sales from 5pm to closing will be contributed to raise funds for the After-Prom! We encourage your participation as you take a night off from cooking and enjoy visiting with other Blake families and friends.

No flyer is required for this dine-out.

Dine in or out at Cheeburger, Tuesday Jan. 5th

Our first fundraiser of the Year! Dine in or out at Cheeburger Cheeburger in Burtonsville on Tuesday January 5th between 5 and 9pm! Tell your friends bring a friend! Mom it’s your night off! Treat yourself to a great Burger!

Please help the Future Educators Association of Blake High School-Bengal Chapter raise funds to establish the Teresa Muldoon Scholarship, in memory of the Blake High School teacher who lost her battle with cancer two years ago. Print out and bring this flyer to Cheeburger so that Blake receives 20 percent of the tab.

Save your used books and DVDs for upcoming Blake sale!

If you’re wondering what to do with all the books, movies, and music you had to clear out to make room for your guests and new stuff, we have a perfect solution! Stash all those things away for the 3rd annual Blake High School Used Book and Media Sale. After the first of the year, we’ll be collecting your donations for this worthy PTSA event, which raises money for scholarships for our students. The sale will take place on February 19-21. Please contact Orit Lowy Chicherio if you have questions or donations (oritilATyahooDOTcom).

Blake Education Foundation proposed

A group of Blake parents and a teacher representative met on Dec. 1st to discuss the formation of a Blake Education Foundation. The foundation would be established to provide a means of financial support for projects that would enhance the educational environment for Blake students, and staff. It would also support projects that are beyond the scope of PTSA projects and fundraising. Several high schools in Montgomery County have started Education Foundations, the oldest of which is Bethesda Chevy Chase High School.

The group discussed several examples of the type of projects that could be funded, including a mobile foreign language lab; scholarships; academic support programs; a technology fund; and teacher programs.

Watch this space for announcements of future meetings. If you’re interested in participating in the Foundation, or have ideas for fundraising or projects to fund, please contact Robina Barlow at: president@blakeptsa.org.

Dine out for After Prom, Nov. 3rd

Please show your support for Blake by printing the flyer and coming to Cheeburger Cheeburger on Nov. 3rd. To print the flyer, click on this link: Cheeburger Flyer.

(Cheeburger will also have copies of the flyer available at the restaurant, for those who request it).
