If your Blake Team or Club collects the highest number of race participant registration forms for the Race for a Dream, scheduled the morning of October 2^nd, your Team or Club will WIN a Pizza Party.

There will be a Section 504 technical assistance conference for parents being offered this Friday, September 24th. The Office of Civil Rights is hosting the conference for Montgomery County and 5 surrounding jurisdictions. We apologize for the late notice, but OCR was working out the logistics for the format, location, date, and time of the conference, which they just shared with MCPS.

Blake will host its 7th annual Race for a Dream 5k Run/3K Walk in memory of junior Blake student Alicia Betancourt who was killed in a car crash on Norwood Road in September 2004.  The Race promotes teen driver safety to high school students and their parents, which is especially important during Homecoming season.  Safe driving tips and driving related statistics are posted along the race course as well as important driving information will be available in the race registration area.

The Race for a Dream will kick off Spirit Week and students will earn class points when participating in this event!  On race day, participants receive a t-shirt and chances to win prizes — whether you run or walk!   Awards are given to the top three male/female runners.

The Race for a Dream is on Saturday, October 2, 2010, and registration begins at 8:00 a.m.  Race form.

At the workshop, you will learn how to:

• Attend expensive private schools for the same “cost” as in-state public schools.
• Pay for college in the most efficient and effective manner.
• Avoid jeopardizing your retirement nest egg.
• Qualify for your maximum Financial Aid package.
• Discover unique student positioning techniques.
• Gain an insider’s view of the college admissions process.
• Recapture your out-of-pocket college costs.

This Educational Workshop Will Help You Avoid Costly College Funding Mistakes Such as:

• Not applying for financial aid because you “earn too much”
• Only applying to “less expensive” public schools
• Using pre-paid tuition and 529 Plans to fund college
• Paying for college using current income
