Hello Blake families,

By now you have received your 2010 After Prom donation letter.  To date we have received donations from 63 families totaling about 48% of our $10,000 goal.

First, we want to thank those of you that have sent in your donations and want to remind those of you that have not to pull out the yellow/blue paper from the inbox on your desk and send your donation in for the best Blake event ever!  Should you have misplaced your letter we have uploaded the After Prom letter on this web site for you to print out and send in. After Prom donation form now online

In case you didn’t receive it, or you’ve misplaced it, the After Prom donation letter is now available online. If you’d like to donate to the After Prom, you may print it out and send it along with your check to the After Prom Committee c/o Blake H.S. PTSA, 300 Norwood Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20905.

In addition, this year we now offer the option of donating to the After Prom festivities using your credit card or PayPal. For more information, see “After Prom Donations” on the After Prom page on this web site.

Miss a PTSA meeting, but want to know what happened?

Minutes of PTSA meetings are available on this web site. The minutes are available once they have been approved by the membership (usually at the next month’s PTSA meeting).

Latest After Prom Committee news

At the last After Prom Committee meeting, held on March 1st, the following items were discussed:

• Theme: We decided on “Into The Night” as the After Prom theme.
• Treasurer’s update: We are receiving responses to our Parent Letters but we still need a lot more donations.
• Current Fundraisers:
-Pizza sales have been going well. We have ~6 more left. If anyone wants to volunteer on Tuesdays at 2:00 please let Maura know.
-Fundraising letters were mailed. We have received donations from approx. 40 families and some businesses have sent donations and prizes.
-Dine-outs: Mama Lucia has been very successful. There is a dine-out planned at the Burtonsville Cheeburger on April 19.

Student volunteers needed to serve meals at emergency shelter

The Montgomery County Coalition is looking for students to help with our meal program at our Home Builder’s Care Assessment Center (formerly known as the Men’s Emergency Shelter) located off of Gude Drive in Rockville. We are currently serving over 200 men, 3 meals a day, everyday. A great Spring Break project; SSL hours are available for this activity. Saturday tutors needed at George B. Thomas, Sr. Learning Academy

Give A Little Time… Make A Big Difference

The George B. Thomas, Sr. Learning Academy (The Saturday School) needs your help tutoring! They are a pre-approved service organization. Volunteer at any of the 12 centers on Saturday mornings from 8:15 to 11:45 and make a difference in the life of a child. Choose the center where you would like to volunteer and call today!

Mr. Blake rescheduled, Fashion X postponed

The Fashion X Program, which was originally scheduled for Friday has been postponed to the fall.

In light of the potential for home basketball playoff games this week, the Mr. Blake Pageant has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 23 at 7:30pm in the Blake auditorium.
